FREE Snow & Ice Management Trainings
In the winter, we use salts to deice hard surfaces like sidewalks, roads, and driveways. However, it only takes about 1 teaspoon of salt to permanently pollute five gallons of water. Because we have evidence of chloride pollution in several waterways in Scott County, the Scott Watershed Management Organization (SWMO) has partnered with the Board of Water & Soil Resources (BWSR) through the Clean Water Land & Legacy Amendment to offer FREE training events that teach snow and ice best management practices that can save folks money and save our water. Check here for updates on these FREE training events.
FREE Winter Deicing Applicator Training Events
Partners in Scott County are hosting a series of free workshops on best management practices for managing snow and ice on parking lots, sidewalks and roadways. The practices will help save money, time and the environment. An optional test will be offered at the end of the workshop to earn Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Level I or Level II Certification in Snow & Ice Control Best Practices. Certified individuals are listed on the MPCA website.
