Ispired by the Academy Awards? Aspiring filmmakers are invited to participate in the Quiet on the Set Metro Public Libraries Short Film Competition.   A free introductory filmmaking workshop (for ages 13+) will be at the Savage Branch Library on Saturday April 10 at 10:30 am (no registration necessary).  For more info and workshops, click the link above.

We're

  Needle & Thread: A Celebration of Creative Needlework & Fiber Arts, March 19-28
Join the Scott County Libraries in celebrating all kinds of sewing, knitting, weaving, & other needlework. Local quilting groups & individual quilters are hosting community Spring Fling” quilt & needle-work shows in several branches. Alongside the quilt shows, there'll be demonstrations by needlework artists & specialists. Stop by to ask a question or  watch an artist at work.  Ink Slingers: Writers in the Libraries
Join us this spring for some exciting evenings with local authors at all the Scott County libraries. Homework Rescue Online Tutoring
K-12 students and adult learners can get free help with homework and related skills online!   It's available (in English or Español) from 1-11 pm seven days a week (except for holiday closings- click here for the list of dates they are closed, updated 2/4/10).  You can use it in the library or sign on from home (with your Scott Co. Library card).

Investment Research Center is new to our online resources (now with library and remote access). 

Sign on to get data and guidance on mutual funds, stocks, and exchange-traded funds; determine how investments fit into a portfolio; or obtain data on a particular industry.

It currently has around 80 languages including six language specific English as a Second Language programs.
